For those visiting the island of Oahu, we definitely recommend going to the Kuhio Beach Hula Show. Many of the hula performances in Hawaii are a large production, and, although exciting, are expensive and focused on a very large experience. The Kuhio Beach Hula Show is situated on a hula mound next to Waikiki Beach underneath a large beautiful tree. The free show is much more relaxed, and truly focused on community sharing their love of hula and their culture with visitors. The group consists of varying ages from little kiddos to graceful older dancers. We arrived about 40 minutes early to ensure we had a seat, and the area was completely packed by the time the show started. We both loved the Kuhio Beach Hula Show and loved that the focus was on sharing Hawaiian culture.
