PostModern Spirits is a craft distillery just north of downtown Knoxville, TN. The distillery and tasting room are located in an old railroad freight depot, which has since been restored into a lovely space that is clean and crisp, but highlights the industrial nature of the building. The tasting room is sleek, with white walls, light wood, and lots of straight lines. The bar area especially grabs your attention with the bold turquoise behind it and neat box-shaped cutouts where the different spirits are shelved. Next door through glass doors is the distillery, which is a little plainer since it’s a work space, but still has a similar vibe. Although we did not go on one, PostModern does offer tours of the distillery.

PostModern’s tasting room provides tastes of some or all of their spirits, depending on your preference, as well as full pours and craft cocktails. We tried a flight of all their spirits and enjoyed all of them. We found them to be well made and unique. We particularly liked their American (Single) Malt Whiskey, the (Up)Root Gin, and the Elderberry Gin Liqueur. Our visit was made even more enjoyable by the friendly staff, who actually made us a cocktail that we thought sounded interesting. It was delicious. Overall, we found PostModern to be a fun place to visit with good spirits and liqueurs.
