We try to give away whatever clothes or items we don’t use anymore throughout the year; however, there are certain items we still like, but not for the original purpose. Recently, we were going through clothes from when we were younger, but that we don’t necessarily wear anymore, and some of the fabric was still nice so we decide to reuse the items in a new way, in a fairly easy project.

Items Needed:

-Skirt

-Needle

-Matching Thread

Pillow Stuffing

We began by flipping the skirt inside out and first hand sewing along the top of the two edges of the skirt to connect the pieces of fabric. The reason we used a hand stitch was because the fabric was quite thick since it consisted of two pieces of skirt lining and the outside of the skirt of the skirt. We used a combination of a hem stitch with an overstitch/whip stitch. Afterwards, we did a basic running stitch along the former seam line so that the previous lining of the skirt wouldn’t show. Next we replicated this on the bottom half of the skirt. There was a zipper on the skirt so we could easily flip the pillow to the outside through the hole. Finally, we simply stuffed the skirt now pillow with a full bag of stuffing for a firm and nice patterned decorative throw pillow.
