This is a great sandwich to make for lunch, offering both savory flavors and some sweetness.
-Ingredients:
Italian meats/prosciutto
Goat cheese
Thinly sliced figs or dried dates
Chutney
Fresh bread
Arugula
Butter
You can choose to make this sandwich two different ways, depending on your preference. On the one hand, you can butter one side of two pieces of bread. Place one piece of bread butter side down in a pan and add chutney on the side of the bread facing up. We usually use Stonewall Kitchen’s Farmhouse Chutney. Then, add slices of Italian meat, such as prosciutto or salami. On top of the meat, add goat cheese and thin slices of dried dates or fresh figs. Place the other piece of bread, butter side up, on top of the sandwich. Fry the sandwich until golden brown, then flip over and do the same on the other side. After the sandwich is done, add some fresh arugula to the sandwich.
On the other hand, you can follow the same steps as above but without buttering the bread. Rather than frying the sandwich, you can place it in the over at 350 degrees for about 7-10 minutes, or until the bread is light brown and toasted. After the sandwich is done, place the arugula in the sandwich. Whichever method you choose, the result is a delightful sandwich that is fresh and filling.
