Bearded Iris Brewing has been a part of the Nashville brewery scene for several years and has now opened a second location in west Nashville. The original location is located in Germantown near the Cumberland River and just north of the Tennessee capitol building. The Germantown location houses the main brewery, so it is housed in a rather large building in a warehouse district. The brewery itself is rather unassuming and almost difficult to find, with the only indications of its purpose being some beer equipment and a large, stylized iris flower that serves as Bearded Iris’s logo. Inside, much the space is taken up by brewing equipment, though there is some room for a tasting room. The space is plain, with round tables and chairs scattered around a black-and-white checkered floor, though there are a few interesting touches. The bar area is reminiscent of a speakeasy or elegant cocktail lounge, with a bar and cabinet set in a richly-stained wood. A similarly decorated bench with a green velvet cushion anchors one side of the room with a pool table nearby.

Bearded Iris is only a taproom, so they exclusively serve their craft beer, along with a few other non-beer options, such as seltzers. While they focus on IPAs and similarly styled beers, they have a wide range of styles available at their taproom. We tried a variety of these different beers and were happy we got to sample them in our flight. Overall, Bearded Iris was a nice place to check out if you’re interested in trying out the Nashville beer scene.
