It is finally cooling down in St. Louis, so it is the perfect time to take a boat ride at the famous Boathouse in Forest Park! The Boathouse is located in the center of Forest Park and offers visitors an opportunity to explore the park through the waterway systems, which are home to critters such as muskrats, egrets, and turtles. You can choose from a variety of boats, including kayaks, canoes, stand up paddles, and the classic paddle boats. Once you have received your boat, you can set off to explore the waterways and architecture, including the St. Louis Art Museum. We have visited several times and have found each time to be a lovely way to relax and be in nature.

Besides boating, visitors can also choose to sit along the water and enjoy a meal. In the last few years Sugarfire Smokehouse, a local BBQ chain, has gone into the dining space, so visitors can enjoy some St. Louis-style BBQ, while relaxing along the Post Dispatch Lake. During our last visit we took out a paddle boat and tried Sugarfire Smokehouse. We enjoyed some pulled pork and brisket sandwiches and an evening watching egrets! It was the perfect way to start the weekend and relax.
