In the quaint town of West Branch, IA is the Herbert Hoover National Historic Park. The National Park Site is situated just off of the Main Street. The park site consists of several historic buildings, the Presidential Library and Museum, the Visitor Center, and a large park, including a beautiful prairie. The park focuses on the life of President Herbert Hoover from childhood on. When we visited we spent a couple of hours at the park site and explored the visitor center, including the film, his birthplace, the blacksmith shop his father worked at, the schoolhouse he attended, and the Quaker meetinghouse he attended. We also roamed the grounds and then explored the small tall grass prairie that is on the grounds. The site was informative and provided beautiful natural views. We both really enjoyed learning more nuances to Hoover’s life and loved meandering through the prairie!

Side Note: Afterwards, we walked along the Main Street and had a bite to eat Brick Arch Winery.
