Restaurant Week – Day 5 (Takeout Version)
One of the absolute BEST places for takeout is Chao Baan. The eatery is located between downtown and our house, making it the perfect place to grab dinner on the way home from work. Chao Baan is situated in a new three-story multi-use building that is also home to Seoul Taco at the end of The Grove. Although dining is currently unavailable, typically there is seating outside on a nice patio. Inside the decor is simple with dark blue paint, light paint, and natural light pouring in from the expansive windows.

The menu at Chao Baan is focused on Thai cooking from the northeast and southern region. The menu is quite extensive and each entree has a variety of options, making it a great way to customize your meal to your preferences. We have tried a couple of their dishes including the cucumber salad, the crispy spring rolls, the pad see-ew, and the pad thai. Each dish has been flavorful and well-made. Our personal favorite is to split the pad thai with a side of the cucumber salad and crispy spring rolls. Chao Baan is definitely the best Thai we have had in St. Louis and is one of our favorite restaurants St. Louis.
Side Note: We try to be very careful with restaurants that offer shellfish due to allergies, and although the menu has a large assortment of shellfish options, we have always felt safe as they noted on the containers each time that attention was paid to the allergens. They also have an assortment of vegetarian options.
