Located in the heart of downtown Pulaski, VA is the cute restaurant Al’s on First. The area is surrounded with historic brick building that are donned in painted brick. Al’s on First is a restaurant on the first floor of the Jackson Park Inn in an old three-story brick building. The building previously served as a grocery warehouse and is now transformed to a beautiful hotel and restaurant. Visitors can walk up to a nice outdoor patio for outdoor seating or head inside. The inner decor features wood floors, beautiful wood beams, industrial lighting, and exposed brick with art along the walls.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and had to only wait for a short time. Al’s on First typically has a lunch and dinner menu, but also features a special brunch menu on Sundays. We went with family and had a large party that all ordered an assortment of items, such as a venison bacon burger, ceasar salad, a steak, smoked brisket sandwich, and chicken tenders, and everyone found their meal to be quite tasty. The menu focuses on southern cuisine, and has a large assortment of meat and seafood options; however, they do offer some salads, soups, and even gluten free options. Everyone in our party had a nice time, enjoyed the atmosphere, and liked their food, making for a great place to grab a bite to eat.
