One of the best restaurants to open in the last 6 months in St. Louis is Mayo Ketchup in Lafayette Square. The restaurant is located on the corner, in a charming three-story red brick building that highlights the area’s architecture. There are a few tables out front for visitors to enjoy outside during the warmer months, and inside there are two rooms. The first room is where visitors order and has a few booths and tables. Overall, the decor is fairly simple, with exposed brick walls, a couple of photos, and a few plants throughout.  We visited on a chilly, rainy day, and after ordering enjoyed nestling into a booth.

Mayo Ketchup is known for casual Puerto Rican, Dominican, and Cuban cuisine.  When we visited it was mid-afternoon, so we opted for appetizers and ordered the empanadas and sorullitos. Both dishes were warm, well-prepared, flavorful, and delicious. As the name suggests, Mayo Ketchup is known for an accompanying Mayo Ketchup sauce that visitors can add to their dish, as well as a couple other sauces. We both enjoyed trying the different sauces with our food, and agreed the standard Mayo Ketchup was quite tasty. As soon as we finished our appetizers, we were already planning when we could come back!
