4 Hands Brewing Company has now been a part of the St. Louis craft beer scene for nearly ten years and has grown considerably in their distribution and offerings in that time. The brewery itself is located just south of downtown St. Louis in LaSalle Park in an old brick building. The structure itself is inauspicious, with a sign and a large beer storage container the only clues as to the brewery’s identity. Inside, however, the brewery is lively and bright. The first floor of the tasting room is a small space with an industrial vibe–concrete floor, wood and metal tables and chairs, exposed beams. There are also modern touches, like the fun wallpaper or the clean window that looks out onto the brewing equipment. Upstairs, a second room allows for additional seating.

The brewery now serves over ten of its beers, which range from their traditional beers to seasonal and specialty brews. If you’re looking for something regularly offered, 4 Hands’s City Wide Pale Ale and City Wide Pils are both tasteful, easy-drinking beers that also support local charities. Among 4 Hands’s specialty beers, Absence of Light, a peanut butter milk stout, is quite tasty. In addition to beer, 4 Hands has also recently begun distilling craft spirits, as well as selling canned cocktails. If all of the beer is making you hungry, 4 Hands has a small food stand in its tasting room featuring snacks and a few larger items by Sidney Street Cafe and Peacemaker.

4 Hands 1

4 Hands is a good brewery and fun to visit, especially after an afternoon hanging out downtown or seeing a baseball game. We recommend checking out 4 Hands, and perhaps picking up a few cans the next time you’re at the grocery store.
