Summer Performances – Day 4

There are only a few more days to partake in Shakespeare in the Park, but the event continues to a be a fun St. Louis evening event. Each year for a few weeks at the end of May and the beginning of June, Shakespeare Festival St. Louis puts on a different Shakespeare Play for free in Shakespeare Glen, a hill that creates a natural stage in Forest Park. The production changes each year, providing visitors with a new show. Additionally, they sometimes switch up the time period of the play, ranging from the traditional setting to a western, or modern, providing variety in the not only the show, but the way the performance is produced. The costumes, sets, and acting are always well-done, helping to provide St. Louisians with another free way to experience the arts. Similar to the Muny, the actors are comprised of local and national talent, creating a quality production. Since the show takes place in the park it provides visitors with a relaxed setting to enjoy the production, as well as the outdoors. Visitors often bring with them a picnic basket or drinks to each an evening of dining and entertainment. There is also some entertainment prior to the show each evening, making it easy to just head over after work and have a full night. Shakespeare in the Park continues to provide visitors with a quality production of Shakespeare, in a lovely setting for free each year.
