A classic St. Louis attraction is Grant’s Farm in the St. Louis municipality of Grantwood Village. The farm is currently owned by the Busch family, of Anheuser Busch Brewing, but was previously President Ulysses S. Grant’s property. On the property sits Grant’s home, and across the road from the farm is the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site. Grants Farm itself is free; however, there is a parking charge. Grant’s Farm as the name suggests, is a farm, with an assortment of farm animals, as well as other fun critters.

After parking, visitors cross a small river and head to an open-air tram. The tram will take you on a ride through the park that allows you to see some of the 900 different animals roaming about the hills, such as deer, zebra, and buffalo. The ride is relaxing and allows you to learn some history of the farm and see some wildlife. Visitors are next dropped off at the farm where they can see an assortment of animals, such as monkeys, camels, and wallabies. There is also opportunities to interact with animals more, such as an area to feed the goats or watch a bird of prey show. As visitors make there way through the animal exhibits you end at the Biergarten, which provides visitors with complimentary beer samples, as well as snack options. Along the Biergarten there are horse stables that house the Anheuser Busch Clydesdales, and a carriage museum.

Visits will typically take a couple hours, but provide a variety of activities.  There is also opportunities to interact with the Clydesdales, a private tour of the grounds, and a tour of the Busch estate on the property. Additionally, during October the park has Halloween activities, and during December there is a winter festival. Our favorite part of visiting is riding along the tram and just relaxing in the Biergarten. Grant’s Farm continues to be one of the best St. Louis attractions that we definitely recommend for visitors to the area as well as St. Louisians.
