While St. Louis is home to the Cardinals, one of the most storied franchises in baseball, the city is also the home of the Blues, one of the oldest hockey teams in professional hockey. The St. Louis Blues have enjoyed some good seasons of late, and after a slow start this season, they are in the thick of the playoff race again. We were recently able to attend a hockey game and were fortunate to be treated to a fun game.
The Blues play at the Enterprise Center, located in downtown St. Louis next to historic Union Station. The facility is currently undergoing some upgrades, so it is sometimes difficult to get around. However, the changes have improved the arena and made it look a bit newer and cleaner. We were able to sit on the first row of the upper deck, which still afforded good views of the ice–we could easily see the puck and the plays develop. One of the recent additions is a large video screen above the center of the ice, so if you don’t see a play, you can’t miss it on the big monitor. However, we stuck to watching the action on the ice, which was exciting and gave us a better perspective than we’re normally able to see on the television. We were also treated to an exciting game–the Blues won 7-2, so we were able to see a plethora of goals.
Depending on the game, you can usually find tickets for the hockey games that aren’t too expensive. Parking can be a bit difficult, so make sure you get to the game with plenty of time before it starts. However, watching the game in person is more fun than trying to see the puck on a television, so we recommend checking out a Blues hockey game.
