Threes Brewing is located in Gowanus in a rather unassuming storefront on a side street. Step inside, however, and you’ll find a lively, warm atmosphere. The brick walls are painted white to lighten up the space, but there is also lots of wood–the tables and chairs, benches, and the bar–to give a pub-like feel to the brewery. If you’d like some fresh air, step outside to the brewery’s large patio space, with plenty of green plants surrounding the tables.

The focus of the interior space is the large bar, behind which stands racks of barrels and the breweries selection of liquors. In addition to their own beer, Threes offers other beers as well, along with a selection of wines and liquors. We, however, wanted to try their beer, so we ordered a flight with a few of the many beers they had on tap. We were able to sample their pilsner, Vliet, which was tasty, as well as SFY, a very good New England style IPA. All of the beers we sampled were delicious, and we thought that Threes Brewing was a good brewery that probably doesn’t get quite the attention it deserves. We definitely recommend giving it a try.

Note: Threes has some of its partners cook food for them, so you can get a snack at the brewing if you’d like some food with your beer. Threes Brewing has a secondary location in Greenpoint.
