New York City offers a plethora of modern art options and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is one of the more well-known modern art museums. The Guggenheim however is not just known for the modern art collection it houses, but also for the unique architectural structure that makes the museum itself a massive piece of art. The museum was designed by Frank Loyd-Wright and is located on the Upper East Side. On Saturday evenings, the museum is pay-what-you-wish, helping to make the museum more accessible for everyone.

There are permanent exhibits on the side wings of the museum, but the center space has new exhibits that often situate nicely within the circular structure. The permanent collection is known for its vast array of impressionist, as well as post-impressionist pieces. Besides artwork, the museum has films and lectures, helping to continuously provide new experiences for visitors. We both enjoyed the permanent collection and particularly the Cézanne and Van Gough pieces. Our favorite part however was the museum structure itself and we both enjoyed walking up to the top and then slowly working our way down and looking at the temporary exhibit.
