From the moment our little one was born, they were not interested in sleeping during the day. They wanted to constantly be looking around and exploring. Additionally, they loved changes in their scenery, so here are a few ways we were able to entertain them with things from around the house.
Ribbon bundle: This was super simple and easy, but honestly provides hours of entertainment, even as a young toddler! We selected a few different ribbons, color, length, and texture and tied them together and then let baby either play with it themself or dangle it in front of them. We were met with coos and later giggles. Our kiddo still gets it out and brings it to us to shake because they think it is fun!
Ribbons on a mobile: Our little one loved their Ikea playmat – it was honestly their favorite toy. One of the ways we were able to continue to mix it up was by adding different ribbons in varying ways. We would drape them across the different bars or hang them from different heights. Our little one loved when the ribbon was draped and they were able to yank the ribbons off themself or simply just batting at the ribbons.
*We were always supervising and never left them alone with the ribbons.
Crinkle paper in socks: Little ones often love the sound of crinkle paper, so when we had some packages arrive we took the tissue paper out of the packages and put them inside of old long (and clean) socks. Our little one would hold the socks by the end and then use them like rattles, but they were soft and able to fling around more. Once our kiddo was bigger, it even became a fun item for them to run around and shake!
