Mahalo Aleworks is a rather new brewery, opening in 2021. It’s located on Maui near the center of the island, only a short drive away from Haleakala National Park. The brewery specializes in using fresh, local ingredients in their beer, including wild yeast gathered from Haleakala.
Mahalo’s taproom is very light and clean with such large garage doors that they make the brewery feel almost like a patio. The brewery has a number of its beers on tap, including lots of different styles. Some are Mahalo’s takes on standard styles; others feature a variety of unique ingredients. We enjoyed a tasting flight while we were there and found it incredibly relaxing to sip our beers with the beautiful Maui scenery outside and a nice breeze rolling through the taproom.
While Mahalo itself does not serve food, the brewery partners with two restaurants to provide patrons with food options. Upcountry Sausage Company is stationed right outside the taproom and offers sausages, burgers, and tacos. Another restaurant, Marlow, is just around the corner and has artisan pizzas to go.
Mahalo Aleworks was the perfect way to cap off a morning exploring Haleakala National Park. It provides a carefree environment to just relax, sip beer, eat good food, and have fun with friends and family.
