Small Towns – Day 1
Summer is often synonymous with road trips, and some of the most enjoyable stops are the quaint little towns along the way! This week we will be looking at some lovely towns for a weekend getaway or a great stopping point. First is the town of St. Joseph, Michigan, which is situated right along Lake Michigan. The downtown has shops, restaurants, parks, an art center, children’s museum, tasting rooms, hotels, beaches looking over Lake Michigan, and even a Frank Lloyd Wright house. Right on the other side of the river is the town of Benton Harbor, which also has a few cafes, a museum, a theater, parks, and eateries.
When we visited we stopped at Forte Coffee, which has locations in St Joseph and and Benton Harbor. Afterwards, we sat along the beach and enjoyed our coffee and pastries while looking at the St. Joseph lighthouses. It was a wonderful relaxed morning on the beach, with tasty treats, and nice view of the lake!
are right next to one another with the St. Joseph River separating them.
