On a recent work trip to Florida, we had a couple days to relax and enjoy the Florida weather and get out of the rainy PNW cold. In between the popular Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral is a small little park, Cherie Down Park that provides restrooms, showers, parking and beach access to Peacock Beach. The beach is just a few miles north of Cocoa Beach, providing the same lovely beach, but a much more low-key environment. The majority of people were locals who walked to and fro from their condos. There is less development, but provides the perfect opportunity to just relax on a beach. We visited a couple of times over the weekend and each time there was plenty of parking and we were able to casually walk along the beach and find a spot to just sit, relax, and watch the waves away from anyone else. For those who just want to quietly relax on the beach, Peacock Beach is a great little Florida destination!
