Day 1: The Mercury
As the weather grows colder, we love finding places to grab a nice warm beverage and perhaps a warm beverage, so this week we will focus on great places to grab a cup of coffee (or tea)! The Mercury Cafe and Teahouse is located in the charming town of New Castle, Delaware. The cafe is situated in the back of a beautiful three-story historic building right along the town square. There is a little brick alley that meanders behind the building and visitors enter the cafe from there. Inside there are two small rooms, one with a bar and for ordering, while the other is a small room with benches along a large window that allows light to pour in. In the back there is a lovey quaint little garden with various seating areas.

The menu centers primarily around tea and cafe foods, such as sandwiches, appetizers, salads, and bowls. Additionally, there is a sizeable drink menu with coffee, cocktails, and beers. When we visited we ordered a coffee and the tzatziki and hummus plate. Everything was yummy and refreshing! We sat in the back garden and the weather was a perfect day with a nice breeze and the warm sun. If you are able to have a warm fall day, we recommend sitting in the back garden space for a perfect setting to relax and enjoy a tasty meal and beverage.
