While there are still some nice summer days in the PNW, we have been trying to get outside as much as possible. For those in the Seattle area, the Woodland Park Zoo, provides an opportunity to be in the outdoors without driving as far for a hike. The zoo is located in the northern part of the city of Seattle in Woodland Park.

There are several entrances and each has a parking lot outside (please note, parking does cost on top of the ticket price). Once inside there is a main loop that the exhibits are off of making it easy to access everything. The exhibits include an African Savannah, Tropical Asia, Australasia, Northwest, Tropical Rain forest, Temperate Forest, and a farm area, as well as some dining options. Additionally, throughout the year there are different events, such as Brew at the Zoo and Pumpkin Bash.

When we visited certain animals were quite active, but others we were never able to find. There are often several different viewing areas, making it easier if there are a lot of people. We visited the zoo for just a little over two hours and felt like we were able to take everything in. It was quite crowded, so be prepared! Overall, the zoo made for a nice opportunity to get outside and see some critters.
