A small state park just outside of Jefferson City is Clark Norton Hill State Historic Site. The park is situated along the Missouri River and served as a campsite during the Lewis and Clark expedition. The name originates from Clark viewing the convergence of the Osage and Missouri River. When we visited the trail was quite muddy and slippery, but we only saw one other person making it a very quiet hike. The only other encounters were two snakes across the trail, making for a bit of a startling hike. Along the trail there are also two Native Americans mounds that Clark also mentions in his journals. The trail is half a mile, so it wasn’t too far, but it took longer since it was so muddy. We both thought it was interesting to be along the Lewis & Clark expedition, as well as check off another Missouri State Park!
