Snoqualmie Falls is one of the most recognizable waterfalls in Washington, and it is quite accessible for anyone wanting to explore it. The waterfall is located east of Seattle on the Snoqualmie River just a short distance away from Interstate 90. There are two main ways to view the falls. The first viewing point, the upper observation deck, is just to the left of the falls. There is a large parking area with a pedestrian bridge that takes visitors across the road to several viewing points along a walking trail on a precipice overlooking the place where the Snoqualmie River gets split into two streams by a rock in the middle of the river and streams over a ledge 268 feet below. The waterfall is spectacular and worth visiting, but be prepared for crowds at the upper observation deck.
The second way to view the falls is from a point downstream, the lower observation deck. Visitors can hike from the upper observation deck to the lower deck, or they can choose to drive to a parking lot near the observation deck. From the parking lot, visitors must take a short hike to the lower observation deck, which offers a view looking up at the falls next to the river, rather than looking down on it from above. Because it requires a short hike, the lower observation deck is not quite as accessible as the upper observation deck; however, there are fewer people.
Snoqualmie Falls is a beautiful waterfall that we highly recommend visiting. It can also be quite interesting to visit the waterfall at different times of the year to see the varying water levels and how the scenery changes with the seasons. We also recommend pairing a visit with a stop at Snoqualmie Falls Brewery.
