Just outside of Henderson, TN in Pinson, TN is Pinson Mounds State Archaeological Park. The park preserves one of the largest earthen mounds from the Middle Woodland period. Trails run through the park that connect visitors to the different mounds. There is also a visitor center to earn more about Middle Woodland culture. When we visited we spent a lovely afternoon exploring the mounds in a nicely wooded area.
