Brewery Week – Day 3: Illinois

From Washington we travel east to Illinois for today’s installment of brewery week. White Rooster Farmhouse Brewing is located in Sparta, Illinois, about an hour southeast of St. Louis. The brewery stands in a red and white rather modern looking building. Inside, however, the brewery is rustic, with lots of wood, corrugated metal, and exposed rafters. White Rooster also has a small but pleasant patio that we made use of. When we visited, it was a very relaxed environment, which we found enjoyable.

White Rooster’s beers feature a wide array of styles. Some beers were traditional styles, such as a standard brown ale, while others featured interesting ingredients, such as the sour made with black tea containing raspberry and corn flowers. We were able to try five different beers and enjoyed getting to visit White Rooster. With so many other breweries in the area, White Rooster can be part of a fun day trip from St. Louis.
