Dogfish Head Brewery began in 1995 but has since become one of the largest craft breweries in the United States. While you can now find their beer in most places, Dogfish Head originated in Delaware and has three brewpubs there, one in Milton and two in Rehoboth Beach. Both brewpubs offer brewery-only drinks and food.
We visited Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach. The brewpub is located in a large complex with lots of natural-looking wood siding and some interesting architectural features such as unique angles and porthole-type windows. The interior is spartan but clean, with standard brewpub tables and lots of wood and metal industrial features. We were able to sit in a booth within one of the porthole-type windows, adding a bit of a fun touch to our experience.
The brewpub has a rather eclectic menu, with plenty of things you would expect to find at a pub, along with some other items, like barbacoa tacos and pierogies. We shared a salad and a wood-fired pizza, both of which were quite tasty. Along with our food, we ordered a tasting flight filled with beers that you can only get at the brewpub. All of these beers were very good, and we enjoyed getting to try some unique Dogfish Head beers. Our waitress also graciously gave us a small sample of one of Dogfish Head’s spirits, a gin made with whole hops. After our meal, we went next door to Dogfish Head’s shop and bought a bottle of the gin, as well as a wine barrel-aged beer, both of which we greatly enjoyed after our visit.
Dogfish Head was a great place for a fun drink and a bite to eat. We highly recommend going to Dogfish Head on a visit to Delaware.
