New Holland Brewing was established in 1997, so it’s been at the forefront of the craft beer movement. Since it’s inception, the brewery has also expanded not only its distribution footprint, but it has opened five locations (in Holland, Grand Rapids, Battle Creek, Saugatuck, and South Haven) and begun distilling spirits as well as brewing beer.

We visited the original Holland brewpub located on the quaint downtown strip lined with lovely and ornate brick buildings. The Holland brewpub itself is situated in one of those brick buildings with big glass windows and a patio out front. There’s plenty of brick inside as well, with exposed industrial elements on the ceiling and plain, pub-style chairs and tables. Overall, the interior is light, airy, and warm–the perfect setting to sip some beer.

The brewpub features elevated pub food, and we ordered an apple walnut salad and a chicken sandwich, both of which were tasty. We also got to sample their beers in a tasting flight. They were nice beers and were the perfect pairing to our food. While we only got to try their beer (and only a few of their beers at that!), we were also very interested in their wide variety of spirits and look forward to returning at some point to sample a number of their styles.

New Holland Brewing is a lovely brewpub–nice atmosphere, good food, and easy-drinking beer–located in a walkable and picturesque town. We highly recommend a visit.
