There are a plethora of small national park sites that are a bit out of the way, so we have made it a habit that while on trips to and from family we will take detours to explore the more remote national park sites. Recently, we detoured to George Rodgers Clark in Vincennes, Indiana. The park is located along the Wabash River on the Illinois and Indiana border. The site consists of a large monument, a small visitor center, and a view of the river. When we visited there were only a couple of other visitors, making it a very relaxed experience. The park focuses on George Rodgers Clark, who fought in the Revolutionary War and a particular battle that made Clark well-known. When we visited we were there a little less than an hour and were able to fully visit the park, so it made for a nice detour to get out of the car and learn more.
