Great Divide Brewing Company was founded in Denver, Colorado in 1994. Since then, the brewery has grown, distributing widely across the country and opening four different taprooms in the Denver area. During a recent layover in Denver, we discovered that one of these taprooms is located within the Denver airport. The brewhouse and kitchen, as Great Divide calls it, is easy to spot–just look for the large cutout of a yeti (one of Great Divide’s logos) outside the brewhouse. Inside, the large bar takes up about half the brewhouse, with tables and chairs surrounding the bar. Light woods, metal, and black colors give the brewhouse a modern industrial vibe, while Great Divide paraphernalia adds a bit of color and whimsy to the space.
Even though the brewhouse is located within the airport, there are still a large number of Great Divide beers from which to choose. The beers include some of Great Divide’s standard offerings alongside more specialty beers. The brewhouse also offers one beer brewed especially for the airport location. We decided to try one of their lighter beers, the American Lager, which we enjoyed. For those wanting something other than beer, the brewhouse also offers several wine and cocktail options.
In addition to drinks, Great Divide offers a nice menu with several small plates, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and entrees. They even offer several breakfast options for those early flights. We ordered a salad and a chicken sandwich with fries and had a very enjoyable time eating our food with our beer.
We were very happy to have stumbled upon Great Divide’s location in the Denver airport and would recommend it to anyone waiting for a flight there. If you aren’t flying, be sure to check out their other locations.
