Emperor Franz Josef of the Hapsburg empire was known for his love of Kaiserschmarrn. The Austrian dish is a sweet shredded pancake dish that is popular throughout Austria, as well as parts of Germany. It is not common to find it in the states; however, Kaisy’s Delights, a Delaware restaurant with three locations, has made the Austrian specialty their main focus. Kaisy’s is a shorted version of Kaiserschmarrn, and the Delaware restaurant provides visitors with the opportunity to indulge in the decadent treat in a more compact way.

Kaisy’s Delights serves customers the Kaiserschmarrn in a bright pink cup of varying sizes with an assortment of topping options, providing a fun twist on the dish. The restaurant also highlights the Austro-Hungarian empire with Goulash and Latkes. Additionally, Kaisy’s Delights offers an assortment of omelettes, sandwiches, quiche, salads, soups, shakes, and hot beverages. When we visited we ordered a Kaiserschmarrn with fruit and then a latkes with a coffee. It was a perfect! We both had a lovely time trying the fun take on the classic Austrian dish and enjoyed the latkes. For anyone in the Delaware beach area or anyone willing to make a detour in the northeast, we recommend a visit to Kaisy’s Delights!
