One of the oldest and most charming restaurants in the St. Louis area is Crown Candy Kitchen. The historic restaurant is located in the Old North St. Louis neighborhood. The restaurant is situated on the corner next to a little square with a small stage and a few picnic tables. The building itself is a two-story brick building with red brick on top and green-and-white walls on the bottom. Once inside the restaurant is fairly small, with a few snug wooden booths all along the center and right side of the room. On the left there is is two countertops. The one in the back is along marble countertop where visitors can place their order. The front left corner is dedicated to an assortment of candies and chocolates, presented in a similar fashion as to when the store opened in 1913 that visitors can pick from. Throughout the decor features a variety of antiques and memorabilia.

Crown Candy Kitchen is known for their sandwiches, malts/shakes, sundaes, and their candy selection. Their sandwiches are definitely hearty, and are known for their many layers of bacon! When we visited we had a turkey sandwich, which was quite good, because the majority of the sandwiches are for true meat lovers! We also visited in the winter, so we decided to opt out of ice cream, but we both agreed that we would love to return and perhaps split one of the hearty bacon loaded sandwiches and enjoy an ice cream treat!
