A fun pub to stop by in the Quad Cities, as well as LeClaire Iowa, is Bier Stube. The pub is locate din downtown Moline in a two-story brick building. The bottom floor has large glass windows, while the second floor has ornate architectural features, including an extended rotunda. Inside there are two primary rooms and throughout there are flags decorating the room. The first room is primarily the bar area with a few tables and chairs, while the second room is more focused on a seating area, including an old-elevator converted into a booth! In the back there is also a large biergarten for visitors to enjoy a drink outside.
The pub focuses on German-American fare. If you have never had German food, the Bier Stube might be a good introduction; however, if you grew up on German cuisine this will not be your grosseltern’s cooking. The wurst are decent, and, we will note, that it is always nice to go here if you don’t feel like fully making German cuisine. Besides the German-American fare, and the wursts, the Bier Stube has a large assortment of German beers. Additionally, Bier Stube has events throughout the year, such as a run and musicians. We have been there several times and tried an assortment of dishes, as well as beers, and always found it to be just a fun place to grab some spaetzle or schnitzel if we don’t feel like making it ourselves.
