A sweet little zoo that makes for a perfect morning or afternoon adventure is the Milwaukee County Zoo. The zoo is located on the edge of the Milwaukee County bordering the Waukesha County, making it centrally located for those in the metro area. We visited on a chilly winter day, but that ensured that there were few people and more animals out to play! The zoo is not overly large and is mostly laid out in several circles, making it easy to ensure you see everything by following a couple of basic paths. The focal point is, of course, the critters, and is home to penguins, a bird house, an assortment of primates, seals, a reptile house, small mammals, otters (our favorite!), bears, hoofed creatures, elephants, big cats (our other favorite!), giraffes, rhino, hioppos, and an assortment of other small critters. There are a few distinct sections, such as the Adventure Africa that provide animals based on geographic location. There are also other attractions including zip lining, a ropes course, a butterfly garden, a large playground, and a farm section with barnyard buddies. The zoo also has a train that runs around the park and opportunities to learn more through shows and educational programs. When we visited we spent a couple hours at the zoo and were able to see most of the zoological park. We had a nice time seeing the critters and exploring a new zoo!

Side Note: There are occasional free admission days offered (although you still have to pay for parking).
