A long-term, well-known sandwich shop in St. Louis is Gioia’s Deli in The Hill. The sandwich shop is known for their hot salami and has received national acclaim. Additionally, they utilize Hautley cheese, which is a St. Louis founded cheese company. Gioia’s is located in a small brick building with a large awning on the side for patio seating. Inside the room has only a few tables and has a large counter at the back to order. We visited on a weekday for lunch and a line still stretched around the building. It took us about 45 minutes to get our sandwich, but it was worth it! We ordered the Italian Trio and a salad, which were both flavorful and tasty! Gioia’s provides visitors the classic sandwich experience in the St. Louis Italian neighborhood.
