St. Louis Brewery Week – Day 5
Recess Brewing is located in historic downtown Edwardsville. For this reason, the brewery is in a lovely Main Street storefront with a brick facade and large windows. A large wooden sign hangs above the front door, greeting visitors as they walk or drive by.
Inside, the brewery is modern, but cozy, featuring lots of brick on the walls and dark colors. To the left, in a room looking into the brewery, stands a couch in front of a nice fireplace. A beautiful brick archway divides this room from the right side of the interior, which includes tables and chairs for seating and nice bar area.

The brewery serves a number of their beers, which include both traditional styles and more experimental takes. For those wanting to try more than one, Recess offers tasting flights. We tried an American lager, a vanilla coffee oatmeal stout, and two sours, one with blueberry and one with mango, papaya, and coconut. We enjoyed tasting each of these and found Recess to be a relaxing place to stop if you’re in Edwardsville.
