St. Louis Restaurant Week – Day 2

A lovely little restaurant in the Peabody Darst Webbe/Near Southside neighborhood is The Bellwether. The restaurant is located in the top of a beautiful historic brick building that was formerly a power plant. The building has been renovated and now holds The Bellwether, the restaurant The Element, and a rock climbing wall. The Bellwether consists of a narrow room with a bar at a center and then a large, lovely patio surrounded by greenery. Although it is a bit cold for patio weather, The Bellwether is a nice, romantic setting to grab brunch or drinks. Inside the decor consists of dark walls with chandeliers dotted through while visitors can grab a chair at the bar or sit in one of the plush, cushioned booths.

The menu consists primarily of fine dining with an assortment of small plates, entrees, and drinks, including wine, cocktails, and beer; however, for those who prefer a more laid back atmosphere The Bellwether offers a lovely brunch. We visited for brunch and had the cinnamon toast crunch french toast and blueberry waffle along with a coffee. The food was delicious! Everything was well-made, well-presented, and well-worth it! We were able to visit on a day with lovely weather and sit outside on the patio, but found the interior of The Bellwether to be quite charming, so we recommend visiting to enjoy both atmospheres. The cozy, intimate setting of The Bellwether makes it the perfect location to warm up with a cold drink on a chilly winter day.
