St. Louis Restaurant Week – Day 1

It is cold! Since it so chilly out, we will focus on ways to explore that involve staying indoors. Cuisine can be a great way to explore new cuisine or neighborhoods.

Grand Blvd. is a hub for delicious cultural eats from all around the world, and one of the gems is Meskerem Ethiopian Cuisine. The restaurant is located in a quaint two-story brick building with room for a few tables and chairs out front. Inside the room is filled with warm colors and a variety of pictures and decorations along the wall that bring added pops of color. There is a bar, tables and chairs throughout, and a case filled with Ethiopian goods. The adjacent room is a bit more plain with white walls and a few pictures dotting the wall while chairs and tables are distributed throughout the room. Visitors can relax and dine or take their food to go!

The cuisine is centered around Ethiopian food and the dishes are outlined by their base of chicken, lamb, beef, seafood, and vegetarian options. There is a plethora of dishes to pick from, as well an assortment of delicious appetizers and beverages. When we visited we ordered the Sambosa, Timatim Salad, and the platter, which consisted of Tibs Wat, Doro Wat, Tibs Alecha, Miser Alecha, and Miser Wat for a full tasting. The food was flavorful and well-made. We tried Meskerem with family and they all ordered their own dishes as well, and everyone agreed the food was delicious! For anyone who loves Ethiopian cuisine or would like to give it a try, we definitely recommend Meskerem Ethiopian Cuisine.
