During a recent visit to the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site in West Branch, IA, we decided to stop off at Brick Arch Winery. The winery is located along Main Street in the heart of the quaint little town. The main strip backs up to the National Park Site, making it an ideal stopping point to explore a little further. Brick Arch Winery is on the corner of the street in two separate buildings that have been converted to encompass the winery. Visitors enter through a brick building with brick arches as the name suggests. Upon entering the room consists of a long bar for visitors to partake in tastings on one side, and an assortment of wine-themed goods on the other side. There is an opening into the second room, which is actually located in the second building. The second building is a two-story yellow sided building. The room features a large stage area that houses an old brick arch embedded into the wall, and then a variety of tables and chairs around the room. The room is open to the second floor, providing additional seating options for visitors to sip their wine at and enjoy a performance.

When we visited we purchased a tasting and sat in the large room. When we visited there were only a couple of other people, making it fairly laid-back. We also decided to get a snack with our tasting, so we had the pretzels and garlic quark, which was quite tasty! The food paired well with the tasting, which included five different wines. Our favorite was probably the Chambourcin, but we enjoyed trying each of them. We both found the wines to be nice, simple wines to have with dinner and were happy to try another new winery!
