A lovely state park outside of Farmington, MO and a little over an hour from St. Louis is Hawn State Park. The park is in Ste. Genevieve, MO and is adjacent to another popular park, Pickle Springs Natural Area, making it a great area for a nice weekend trip. The park has a variety of activities for visitors to explore including hiking, camping, picnicking, and a playground. There are several trails in the park that feature waterways, including some pleasant waterfalls, and views of the Ozark mountains. When we visited we went on the White Oaks Trail that involved several water crossings and a variety of changes in forests. The trail was a nice, relaxing afternoon exploring the Missouri landscape.

Side note: When we visited we got the last available parking spot, so be aware that it can get quite crowded.
