Located in the midst of the Southampton neighborhood is Russell’s on Macklind. The restaurant is located in a two-story brick building with large windows on the corner of Murdoch and Macklind. The bottom floor has exposed brick walls and large windows and pops of color throughout. The bottom floor has several tables for patrons to sit at, as well as a large display cabinet with all of the sweets that are available. The second is an event space that continues the exposed brick, but has a slightly more elevated feel with dark colors and dim lighting. Russell’s on Macklind also offers a large outdoor space with a covered porch and an expansive patio.
The restaurant is known for elevated classic American dishes and brunch. The menu consists of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches, appetizers, and a variety of main dishes, such as pasta and roasted chicken. Additionally, Russell’s typically has a large assortment of sweets, including cakes and cupcakes, and a variety of drinks. Each time we have visited we have ordered take-out during the pandemic or enjoyed the patio. We have tried various items and have found each item to be flavorful and well-made. For those who live in the area, Russell’s on Macklind has a nice patio and is an easy place to grab a bite to eat.
Side Note: Russell’s on Macklind also has a coffee shop just down the street called Lola Jean’s and then a second location in Fenton.
