Maize Valley Winery and Brewery is located about 20 miles southeast of Akron, Ohio in a rural area with rolling hills and farmland. While Maize Valley obviously serves wine and beer, it is much more than a winery and brewery. Maize Valley is a working agricultural area with vineyards and farmland. It hosts a variety of events each year, some focused on the seasons and others emphasizing special events, such as a fall festival, a corn maze, a lavender festival, and a hot air balloon lift. Many of the products that the farm produces are available in a shop at Maize Valley. There, guests can peruse the many jams and jellies, salsas, bbq sauces, spices, baked goods, and other foods and beverages. Maize Valley also sells their wine and beer at the store.

In addition to the farm, Maize Valley has a restaurant next to the shop featuring healthy and artisanal sandwiches, salads, pizza, and other cafe-type food. We ordered a grilled chicken salad and a bruschetta pizza. Both were refreshing, yet filling, and very tasty. We ended the meal with a slice of blackberry pie, which was delicious. Before and during our meal, we also sipped on a flight of Maize Valley’s wines. We tasted a variety of their wines and found them to be a lovely addition to the evening as we sat on the patio overlooking the fields.

We greatly enjoyed our time at Maize Valley and are planning another excursion there to try their beers, as well as to simply relax at a nice farm and vineyard.
