Novella Wine Bar is one of the best restaurants in the St. Louis area. The restaurant is located in the Princeton Heights neighborhood along Kingshighway in a small two-story brick building. The first floor has bright red windows and a door, allowing light to come in. Once inside the room is cozy with warm colored walls, dim lighting, white tin ceiling tiles, hardwood floors, a wall of wine. The front of the restaurant is primarily a seating area, while the back area consists of a bar. If you continue through the restaurant you will go to the cutest patio that is filled with plants, tables, and a lovely large tree.

The restaurant it-self is centered around small plates and an assortment of wines from the Balkan region. The food is absolutely incredible! We have visited a couple times and enjoyed every dish we have tried, including the satarash, the hummus, malbec barbecue chicken flatbread, and the Gorgonzola, walnut & pear flatbread. Every dish has been delicious with incredible flavors! The malbec barbecue chicken flatbread utilizes their own barbecue sauce that is fantastic. Additionally, each time, we have finished the meal with a delightful tiramisu! Along with incredible food, the wine selection is excellent! We have tried the Hvar Plavac Mali from Croatia, the T’Ga Za Jug Vranec from Macedonia, the Bucuria Pinot Noir from Romania, and the Žilavka from Bosnia & Herzegovina. All of the wines were impeccable and we would love to try all of them again. We enjoyed the T’Ga Za Jug Vranec so much that we have ordered it a couple of times! Additionally the Pinot Noir was unlike any we had had before and had a delightful array of flavors, but was still light and had a nice finish. We both are looking forward to returning again and definitely encourage anyone visiting or who lives in St. Louis to visit!
