A sweet little cafe that we recently had the pleasure of trying is Fiddlehead Fern Cafe. The cafe is situated on the corner of Russell and Thurman in the Shaw neighborhood in a modern looking building. There are a couple of tables in the front and then a large patio filled with tables to the side of the building. Inside the space is fresh and airy with tall ceilings, large windows that allow light to pour through, and a plethora of plants scattered throughout. The entire left side of the space is covered with a large counter that is filled with baked goods.
When we visited we decided we must try a baked good and ordered a delicious muffin. Each day there is a variety of baked goods available, but there is also an assortment of loaded toasts, salads, and soups. We decided to share the apple and brie loaded toast, which was absolutely incredible! The flavors paired well together and the toast was refreshing with crisp apple bites, but still filling with the perfectly prepared bread. To complete our little brunch, we also ordered a vanilla latte, that was excellent! Fiddlehead Fern offers an assortment coffees, teas, lemonades, juices, cocktails, and even shrub sodas. Everything we had was tasty and well-prepared. After we got our cafe order to go, we had a lovely morning driving to different city parks to walk around. Fiddlehead Fern Cafe is a lovely little spot for those who live in the city to grab a bite to eat and a delicious drink!
