St. Louis Kolache recently opened its fourth location in South St. Louis, which inspired us to pay a visit. The location we visited is in a small, rather cute building on the skinny corner of Hampton and Southwest. The building is a bit mid-century modern, with a plain white facade, large floor-to-ceiling windows in the front, and a thin and flat white roof floating over the edges of the building. The interior continues the clean and modern look from the exterior. It is also quite small, with just enough room for a couple people and a countertop, behind which are rows of different kolaches. Despite St. Louis Kolache’s small size, it offers a wide variety of kolaches, including both savory and sweet. In order to sample as many flavors as possible, we ordered several different kinds. We were able to try kolaches filled with Pappy’s Smokehouse brisket; kolaches with Pappy’s pulled pork; breakfast kolaches with bacon, egg, and cheese; and fruit-filled kolaches with jam. We were glad to get to taste so many different kolaches and found St. Louis Kolache to be a fun place to try. With other locations in Ballwin, Creve Coeur, and O’Fallon, St. Louis Kolache is a great place in the St. Louis Metro area to grab a nice breakfast item.
