Perhaps one of the most unique, and fun, parks to visit in Missouri is Elephant Rocks State Park. The park is located in Belleview, MO, which is about an hour and a half south for those in the St. Louis area. Elephant Rocks is named after the unique granite rock formations throughout the park that visitors can explore through the trail that wind among the boulders. The primary trail is called the Braille Trail and actually has signs throughout the park to provide those with seeing impairments the ability to learn more about the park and safely access the trail. Throughout the trail the rock features themselves are unique and provide a variety of areas to climb, squeeze, and explore, making it a fun trail to explore. Additionally, since the park is situated within the Ozark mountains, the top of rocks provide an incredible view of the area.

Although the park is known for the granite boulders, the park also offers fishing, picnic tables, a playground, rock climbing, a food truck, hiking, and the ruins of a house. The house is known as the Engine House and used to be for repairing trains in the late 1800s. Although the house is quite old, there are still walls, as well as the the windows still in place. Finally, there is also a lake on the property that formed after the area was used for quarrying, providing an additional area to explore. We visited Elephant Rocks while visiting Johnson Shut-Ins and Taum Sauk Mountain State Park, which made for a perfect adventure-filled day!
