Probably the smallest state park site in Missouri is Governor Daniel Dunklin’s Grave State Historic Site. The little park is located in Herculaneum, MO down at the very end of a residential road. The site has around six parking spots total, which almost equate to the size of the park. Upon arriving, you make your way down the pathway to a simple cemetery and two plaques explaining the site and who Gov. Daniel Dunklin of Missouri is. The park is situated between two private properties, providing limited views from those directions, but the view directly in front of you as you came from the pathway is the Mississippi River. The site is situated right along the river and provides nice views of the surrounding area. Although you won’t spend more than a few minutes at Gov. Daniel Dunkin’s Grave State Historic Site, it does make a nice little stop off the road to learn a little more about Missouri’s history and get some views of the river.
