Making spätzle from scratch, especially without a spätzle maker, takes a bit of time, so we tend to make it in bulk. Although we love spätzle with hunter’s sauce and venison (or whatever meat we can supplement), we also like to utilize spätzle in new ways. Although there is a more involved way to make käse spätzle we threw this together for a quick easy meal.
Ingredients:
Spätzle
Olive Oil
Shredded Cheese
Onions
Parsley
Begin by placing olive oil in a pan to heat it up. While the pan is heating up chop up an onion and add it to the pan. Once the onion has begun to brown, add the spätzle to the pan and heat it up. You may need to add a little more olive oil to evenly coat the spätzle. Afterwards, grate fresh cheese over the pan, stirring throughout to ensure it is evenly coated. Once the cheese is blended in, remove from heat, plate, and then add a little more freshly grated cheese and fresh parsley to the top! The meal is simple, easy, and a great way to reuse delicious spätzle.
