Located along the Mississippi River in South County St. Louis is Cliff Cave County Park. The park is tucked behind some suburbs and runs along the river providing cool breezes and nice views of the river. Cliff Cave is home to, as the name suggests, a cave that has been utilized for hundreds of years. The park has a few trails that run through the park, including a trail that connects to the Great Rivers Greenway, making the park popular for bikers. The primary trails are the Spring Valley Trail (which has an inner loop), the River Bluff Trail and the Mississippi Trail that connects to the larger Greenway, and is paved. The trails are utilized by walkers, horseback riders, bikers, and mountain bikers. The Mississippi Trail also leads to an overlook of the Mississippi River.

When we visited we walked along each of the trails and, although the park was quite busy, once we got off the paved trail, we were able to get away from the crowds more. We also walked to the overlook, providing a nice view of the river. We were at the park for about an hour and a half and were able to explore a large portion of the park, making it great for a quick afternoon activity that is close to the city.
