Tongue River Reservoir State Park is located in southeastern Montana. As the name implies, the state park’s centerpiece is the Tongue River Reservoir, a body of water set amidst large rolling hills with mountains on the horizon. The area is filled with wide-open spaces and lots of grasses. While the most popular activities here involve the reservoir, we camped along the reservoir with only a few other people. As the sun set against the golden hills, the park and the reservoir were quite calming and peaceful.

The next day, we again enjoyed the open air and large spaces there, but we also were treated to something smaller-a whole family of Pronghorn walking amid the hills. Overall, Tongue River Reservoir State Park provides a nice overview of the landscape of eastern Montana.
